But the offer came with a painful stipulation. Jason King must lay to rest the demons haunting him.Faith Collins’ stepbrother rescued her and her infant son from a hideous life, then died overseas in a black ops mission gone tragically wrong. Faith knew how to pick up and go on when things got bad. So she’d made peace with losing him–until Jason King arrived.Neither expected their meeting would tilt the world on its axis–and offer them the solace they both desperately craved.
As this is the fourth book of the Kings of Guardian series but my first to read of the series, I did not have any prior knowledge of the main character Jason or his family.
I feel the author has written the love story of Jason and Faith extremely well, however I find it moves very quickly and a lot of details are skimmed over. Their back stories is an area I would have liked if the author elaborated more on this. Both Faith and Jason have back stories which I feel would have made good reading but unfortunately we find out very little about it.
I also think their love story moved extremely quick, one page they have just met and next they are in love, this is way too quick for my liking. The heat level was hot between these characters and the love scenes were well written and the right amount of descriptive in my opinion.
As far as I know this book is romantic suspense, so the suspense levels in this book did kept me reading, there are 2/4 occasions in the book that the security agency Jason runs needs to step in, so we get to meet members of his family whom also work for the agency. Ever in the background is a plot line about the Russian mafia which you just know the author has something exciting planned as it starts to play out.
Overall I am extremely happy to have read this book and am looking forward to more from the series.
